Openshaw District Centre

In March 2007 Manchester City Council approved plans for the £40 million redevelopment of Openshaw District Centre.

Dransfield Properties Ltd have been working in partnership with the Council, New East Manchester and the local community for the past four years to transform an area of vacant property and land as well as secondary industrial and commercial properties fronting Ashton Old Road with a new retail led mixed use development.

The scheme will comprise of a large food store, 13 new shops, restaurant/cafe uses, a leisure and fitness centre along with office accommodation.  The scheme has been designed to maximise pedestrian linkages to the surrounding residential areas and will include 672 new car parking spaces in two separate landscaped car parks.

The scheme will create around 750 new jobs and will result in a transformation of the existing Centre and help in the regeneration of the wider area.

Work on the development could start by the autumn of 2008 with the shops and leisure uses open for trading in 2009.
