One-stop learning website launched for east Manchester residents
A first-of-its-kind website offering residents in east Manchester quick and easy access to information on training courses, learning centres and job opportunities in their area has been launched.
The website, called Learning4U, which can be accessed through www.L4Ueast.com, provides a 'one-stop' online portal for users by offering the latest information on hundreds of courses, events and news all at the click of a button.
The site which is being funded and co-ordinated by urban regeneration company New East Manchester has been developed in partnership with The Manchester College and Tameside College, two of the major education providers in the area.
Learning4U has previously collated information about local training providers in a handbook and CD-Rom, but the website now aims to improve the ease with which that information can be accessed by offering it online, making it fully accessible for anyone who wants to find out about courses available to them.
Sean McGonigle, Deputy Chief Executive of New East Manchester, said: "The Learning4U website is a fantastic new resource which will help residents access information about education and employment in their area more quickly than ever before.
"This improvement will also hopefully encourage more people to undertake further learning and potentially improve their employment opportunities."
Employment opportunities have also been placed on the website by Work Solutions who help people who are unemployed improve their skills and get back into work.
Claire Evans, Chief Executive of 4CT said: "Within east Manchester the Learning4U resource has helped people to access a range of opportunities from informal learning to accredited provision - I am sure it has contributed to making the Grange one of the most popular adult learning/training venues in the area and provided a first step to learning for many local residents."
