Free trapeze course helps east Manchester residents become high flyers
A free trapeze and aerial course funded by New East Manchester is offering twelve east Manchester residents a chance to learn how to become a trapeze artist. Held at MANCAT's Nicolls College on Hyde Road in Ardwick, the free course starts on 23 January and will take place every Wednesday evening from 6.15pm - 8pm for nine weeks.
Sean McGonigle, Director of Regeneration at New East Manchester said: "This course is not just about improving physical fitness and learning a new skill. It's as much about building confidence and self esteem. Learning the trapeze not only offers people a fun way to try a new activity and enhance their social life but the additional benefits in terms of personal development are huge. This really is a unique opportunity to sign up for a life changing experience."
Lindzi Miller, Aerialist and course tutor from Skylight Circus Arts, who has 15 years experience teaching trapeze and other circus skills all over the UK and abroad said: "Participants will have the opportunity to try various aspects of trapeze from day one. Although a degree of physical fitness is necessary, all we really ask for is enthusiasm and a keenness to learn this beautiful art. The course will improve people's core strength and flexibility and their general well-being. We guarantee it will be fun, sociable and immensely rewarding."
Places are limited to east Manchester residents and priority is given to those who live in Clayton, Openshaw, Beswick. Prior booking is essential. For further details and registration please contact Jo Williams or Kate Dalzell on 0161 223 1155. The course is strictly for over 18s.
