Festive fun at Sportcity as Christmas lights switched on
There's lots of festive fun planned at Sportcity on Thursday 19 November to mark the switching on of the Christmas lights.
There will be craft workshops where children take part to make Christmas decorations, a brass band, free hot drinks and mince pies, fairground rides, street entertainers and a Santa fancy dress fun run around the stadium, which people can enter on the night.
Gary Crate, Sportcity Estate Manager, said: "This is the fourth year we have had a light switch on and it gets more popular every year. This is a great way for local residents to come together to have fun and celebrate the start of the Christmas season. Sportcity offers world class community sports facilities all year round and this is a good opportunity for people to come along and see what's on offer right on their doorstep."
John Dwan, Managing Director of Sport 4 Life says," The Santa Run 4 Fun is a great 1km warm up for Christmas for all the family, Come along in costume and experience the excitement of the build up to Christmas, take part in other fun family activities and watch the Sportcity lights come on. Everyone is welcome.
The free entertainment and activities start at 5.15pm and finish at 6.30pm with the run at 5.30pm. Entry is via Gate 11 on Rowsley Street off Ashton New Road in Beswick, east Manchester.
