Community Hub Site

The Community Hub site will consist of a new joint service centre which will house health services and a pharmacy, a new library and spaces for community activities, together with a new housing office and retail outlets.

Manchester City council is also investigating the option of providing a new swimming pool on the site. The main partners responsible for developing the hub, (Manchester City Council, NEM, Manchester Primary Care Trust and the Renaissance Consortium), are currently bringing forward detailed design and business plans for each element of the scheme.

It is expected that the planning applications for the Joint Service Centre (JSC), housing office and new retail facilities will be submitted early in 2009. Building of the JSC, housing office and retail will be completed by the spring of 2011. An options appraisal to inform the feasibility of building a new swimming pool will be completed in early 2009.

Housing – Renaissance Programme

Work is now well underway to refurbish over 1500 homes by the end of 2011 and to build a similar number of new ones by 2019.

Parkview School

This project will provide a new two form entry primary school building, including a foundation unit for 420 pupils plus 60 nursery places, and will replace the existing school on the same site

The detailed planning application for the school was submitted to Manchester City Council on the 22September 2008 and will be considered by the Planning Committee in December 2008.

Construction of the new school is programmed to commence in early 2009 with a planned completion date of February 2010

Sure Start Centre

The new £850,000 Sure Start Centre situated just off Holland Street opened in April 2008 and is providing a range of services for young children and families in the area.
