Ashton New Road - North

Facelift schemes to 466 existing properties on Ashton New Road, Seymour Road South, North Road, Dargai Street, Pennell Street, Hamnett Street, Ronald Street and Clayton Hall Road. Streetscape schemes to North Road, Dargai Street, Pennell Street and Hamnett Street.


All the above-mentioned works has given a much-needed visual boost to the area, which has made it a more attractive place to live.

Work has recently commenced to undertake an enhanced facelift scheme to the 163 properties in the Walsden Street Area, which includes, Tottington Street, Blackpool Street, and parts of Stanton Street, Coatbridge Street and Canberra Street.

Work will start on site to undertake a basic facelift to the 195 properties in the Powell Street Area, which includes Ember Street, Glenholden Street, Roslin Street, Stokes Street and parts of Schofield Street and Stanton Street.

There have been four new build homes for social rent built on the vacant site on Andre Street; and a mixed development of 13 new family homes on the form Compulsory Purchase Site on Hackle Street.

Executive approved the Compulsory Purchase of the Viola Street Area at their meeting in February 2008. This will see the former St Willibrods School Site and twenty dilapidated dwellings cleared and replaced with 28 new family homes for sale. The planning application will be submitted for the scheme in late October 2008.

Ashton New Road South

Following the change in guidance from HSE, the City of Manchester (Eccleshall Street, Clayton) Compulsory Purchase Order 2007 was withdrawn in December 2007.
